Helping managers and investors monitor the necessary documents

The client needed an application to help their managers and investors monitor the necessary documents where their users had one or more nationalities, and provide the ability to save and modify the data of other users through defined special permissions.

The client is one of Europe’s largest Venture Capital teams. Headquartered in London and New York, with Venture Partners in San Francisco, Singapore and China, they help entrepreneurs to scale globally. Their typical investments would be from £1m for Seed to around £4m for Series A, and in recent years it has ranged from £350k to £25m.

The client needed an application to help their managers and investors monitor the necessary documents where their users had one or more nationalities, and provide the ability to save and modify the data of other users through defined special permissions.

Solution

We worked with the client to undertake requirements elicitation so we understood their specific needs. After this we progress the delivery of the solution to create the application, although during this process they decided to increase the scope with a small amount of change control.

Due to regulatory changes in the market for Financial Instruments Directive (known as "MiFiD II") a law was introduced by the EU to increase competition and consumer protection within investment services.

In accordance with the new law, the protection of investors was being strengthened through the introduction of new requirements on product governance and independent investment advice.

As the instructions contained in MiFID are valid for states in the European Union, we were faced with the task of considering these requirements during the development process.

The product was developed successfully for the client, and was signed off 4 after our rigorous testing and the clients User Acceptance Testing.

Results

The Application we created for the client allowed them to simplified the process of collating relevant documents about staff. It provided them the functional ability to accept, collate, store and modify data more efficiently, as well as helping them save time and effort.
