YuRide

YuRide is a York University–founded ride-sharing service tackling campus transportation challenges and reducing environmental impact by matching students with similar routes for shared rides.

We delivered a cross-platform mobile application using React Native, enabling students to sign in with their York credentials, browse available rides, and share trip costs intuitively:

  • User Authentication: Integrated with YorkU’s SSO for secure login.
  • Trip Matching: Developed real-time route matching using Django-backed APIs on AWS, ensuring accurate and efficient ride coordination.
  • In-App Messaging: Built chat functionality for riders and drivers to coordinate pickups, enhancing the user experience.
  • Performance Optimization: Architected services on AWS with auto-scaling and caching for smooth peak-time, optimizing performance during peak hours and ensuring smooth operation.
